Date: 11 January 2019
Time: 13:30 - 17:00
Venue: Casa Leone, Floriana
Regulatory compliance is an important priority for operators in a number of regulated and supervised industries, but not only. Even activities and commercial entities that are typically not regulated do have compliance obligations of which they should have full awareness and knowledge, as for example, the sanctions regime. Indeed, the law is there, ignorance of what it entails is not an admissible defence or excuse. A strict Anti-Money Laundering (AML) regime becomes crucial to the integrity of the financial system and helps to facilitate a healthy financial environment. Though AML/CFT laws may cover a relatively limited number of transactions and criminal behaviours, their implications are extremely far reaching.
The onus to perform under these laws is on the institutions, not the criminals or the government. This seminar is intended to present the basics essential knowledge on the subject, ensuring that the attendees do have a clear idea of the laws they are to work with, the duties emanating therefrom and how to ensure compliance with such legislation and regulation.
