What is it? was founded with a very simple idea: to build a company that could address the need of automating human communication at scale. Too much time is being spent in traditional customer service without a positive outcome. At we believe that technology should allow customers to connect with businesses at any time, with zero effort.

EBO helps with:

  • Customer or patient service;
  • Lead-generation – helping filter quickly through potential leads and prioritising those that matter;
  • Sales – cutting the waiting time, with the added benefit of always being open for business 24/7 and 365 days a year;
  • Data collection in terms of Know Your Customer (KYC) – improving processes through analytical data not preciously available through conventional applications.


Who’s behind it?

The company was founded in 2017 by Gege Gatt, a technology entrepreneur, passionate about delivering value for companies through AI. Trained as a lawyer, he is CEO of EBO and also co-founder of four other start-ups including ICON, a web-application development company. He is the Chairman of Beacon Media Group which incorporates a digital news portal, a national radio station, as well as a Director of Yellow – one of the leading companies in the publishing industry. He is also a keen photographer and has had his photos published by the BBC and Saatchi & Saatchi.

What makes EBO different? is much more than just another chatbot. We work with businesses to create something that is tailored to their individual requirements, with a ‘personality’ for the bot and a choice of vocabulary to match the task at hand. Being cloud based, the technology is easy to deploy and scale, and can be linked to other IT platforms, including CRM and e-commerce systems. It is also increasingly being used for internal communications and other purposes, such as on-boarding new employees. An off-the-shelf chatbot rarely has any of the personalisation and improvements needed to make a truly excellent impression on customers or patients. 

What are your plans for the future?

We have successfully built our technology stack and consultancy know-how and are targeting the healthcare and financial services sectors. Our geographic focus is currently the UK, but this is widening all the time. We are also further developing our AI abilities by utilising conversational data to create predictions which improve user-journeys and sustain business growth. As with all agile companies, we never stop refining and improving, and our future plans are a reflection of this.


Why Malta? was spun out of ICON, a technology development agency. Whilst our team is truly international, spanning talent from Canada, the UK, Austria, Germany and many more countries, the company is headquartered in Malta and that's where we feel home.
