Established in 2016, iGaming Idol has grown exponentially into one of the most anticipated awards shows within the sector, attracting the top echelon of the iGaming industry every year. The iGaming Idol group is led by co-founder Michael Pedersen, together with the team behind Ambassadör Events. Besides their flagship awards ceremony, the group has added a number of events to their calendar, including ‘HR Connect’, charity poker tournaments and a diverse portfolio of networking events.
So, what next?
The iGaming Idol group has recently announced the new, exciting project: iGaming NEXT, a one-day conference for the industry’s key decision-makers.
While there are many networking events on the gaming calendar, Michael Pedersen highlights the importance of having a content-driven conference. “In the current events landscape, it is quite challenging for suppliers to get their new product and thinking across,” he says. “iGaming NEXT serves as a unique platform where the ideas, products and technologies for the future will be revealed — imagine Apple’s yearly event combined with the presentation quality of a TED conference, this is what we are aiming for.”

The idea behind this is to introduce a new kind of formula that will create a one-stop-shop for iGaming suppliers, operators and the media. The conference brings together six of the largest, tier-1 iGaming suppliers who each get 20 minutes on the big stage to present their roadmap for the next six to twelve months. Some 700 delegates will get glimpse into the future of gaming through a series of premium talks and keynotes from NetEnt, Quickspin, Evolution Gaming, BetConstruct and Scientific Games. “In addition, we have also confirmed Google as a partner and keynote speaker,” Michael adds. “Delegates will gain insights and inspiration from Google's Regional Director Grigoris Zarifopoulos.”
“We aim for TED quality presentations, that’s why we are engaging a professional TED speaker, David JP Phillips,” Michael Pedersen says. “It will be compulsory for our speakers to go through the coaching sessions with Phillips to gain practical guidance and insights from the TED Talks expert and deliver a killer presentation.” Pedersen believes this collaboration will help to improve quality, inspire delegates and add value to the conference.
“As a concept, iGaming NEXT can be rolled out anywhere in the world,” Pedersen says. “As we move further into 2020, we would like to expand into new markets and launch another event within Europe, but outside of Malta,” he reveals. The organisers are also eying the United States and Latin America as their next base for the conference.
The inaugural edition of iGaming NEXT will be held at the InterContinental Arena Conference Centre on the 10th of September 2019. “The event will take place one day before iGaming Idol, our flagship event,” Pedersen says. “This way, we are hoping to have even more international delegates coming to Malta for two days of education, inspiration and growth.”
