Net Check GmbH, an independent telecommunications firm based in Berlin, named GO the “Best Network” of the year in Malta compared to national competitors. The evaluation took place in May 2017, and Net Check confirmed the results after testing about 6,200 data samples and 2,100 voice calls per operator on the Sony Experia XZ.
In this benchmark campaign, Net Check designed the network performance tests to rank the end user’s experience. Net Check scored operators in the areas of network coverage, voice quality and data, tallying them up for an overall result. For voice calls, the cases involved phone calls for 90-second durations using POLQA, a listening quality assessment standard to measure speech quality. For internet service, the cases involved browsing the web, creating a Facebook post and streaming a YouTube video.
In the end, Net Check awarded GO with 931.72 points out of a maximum of 1,000. The network provider was ranked first in all the evaluation categories, particularly in mobile internet. In urban areas, GO's 4G mobile internet network delivered an average download speed of 85.4 Mbps compared to the runner-up which had an average download speed of 56.8 Mbps. Outside of urban areas, GO delivered an average download speed of 79.0 Mbps, compared to the runner-up which had an average download speed of 55.0 Mbps.
